London, UK – Comedy streaming service NextUp announced their weekly output will increase from one show per week to two. The stand-up comedy platform, found at nextupcomedy.com, offers shows by a wide variety of up-and-coming comics from across the globe. Starting 24 June 2019, NextUp will release new shows on both Wednesdays and Fridays each week.

The company reports that the decision to increase output grew from heavy audience demand. This move comes not long after the announcement of the Grapevine Bursary, their new initiative to promote diversity among stand-up comedy performers. According to the streaming service, these new efforts are intended to connect stand-up fans with the latest performers on the most accessible platform possible.

Launched in 2016, the streaming platform was created by the founders of ComComedy, a popular live comedy event and YouTube channel. NextUp boasts a library of over 100 shows, most of which are from smaller names in the stand-up comedy industry. Performers featured on the platform include Ed Byrne, Judith Lucy, Miles Jupp, Tiff Stevenson, Daliso Chaponda, Paul Sinha, Ria Lina, and many others. Roughly 90% of the content on NextUp is exclusive to the platform.

According to the company, the decision to promote relatively unknown comics is a way to showcase the brilliance of those who may otherwise be turned away from mainstream showcases. The team states they saw a need for both better opportunities for comics and better access for viewers unable to attend live shows. To fulfill that need, they created NextUp.

Users can watch shows ad-free on apps for both mobile and web, as well as through digital media players such as Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, and others. Monthly subscriptions to NextUp cost £4.99 after a free seven-day trial for all new viewers. There are no contracts and subscriptions can be cancelled at any time. Viewers have the option to stream offline.

As an online streaming service catering to a niche audience, NextUp continues to demonstrate their commitment to both comics and their fans. By showcasing a vast array of comedic styles and over 100 different performers, NextUp has cemented themselves in the comedy world as a rseource for performers and audiences. Following the increasing of their content release schedule to twice a week, NextUp plans to continue their growth as a leading stand-up streaming service.
